Sunbury Cricket Club – Milo cricket Season 2013/14

Just a reminder that this week is the final session for this season.

We are asking all parents and carers who are able to attend Milo cricket this Wednesday afternoon to join in a short and sharp Milo cricket session followed by a sausage sizzle and presentation.

Sunbury Cricket Club would like to thank all the parents and carers who have helped out during the season and hope they enjoyed participating in the activities with the children.

We hope to see you all next season.

Cheers Scotty.

GDCA Juniors : games proceed tomorrow

From GDCA:

Hi all,

With the overnight temp predicted to be 20degC, we have decided to proceed with junior matches tomorrow.

please be mindful of the extreme heat guidelines (link below), ensure  there are multiple additional drink breaks (in the shade if possible) with cool liquids, and closely monitor the condition of your players. i am aware many coaches have already conferred and decided to start earlier @ 8.15am or 8.30am.

all matches/day 1 must be completed by 11.30am at the latest (preferably 11am), and please use your common-sense and discretion if an earlier finish is required. if it is a 2 day match – the team batting next week would face the same number of overs as are completed tomorrow.

feel free to contact either me or Peter Kavanagh (GDCA Junior Secretary, 0459 098 664).

Message from GDCA to all Junior coaches – Heat policy

Hi there all. please forward this email to your junior coaches/team managers.

firstly – with hot weather forecast this saturday, i draw your attention to by-law B9:

B9:         Heat Policy: The GDCA Junior Sub-Committee will adopt the heat policy issued by Cricket Victoria and this policy will be applied to all grades. The GDCA Sub-Committee will publish on the GDCA website http://gdca.vic.cricket.com.au by 8pm on the Friday night prior to matches if they are to be cancelled due to forecast adverse weather conditions.

these Cricket Vic guidelines are available  http://www.cricketvictoria.com.au/files/pages/laws-and-policies/Cricket_Victoria_Extreme_Heat_Guidelines.pdf

given that we are a morning competition, it is likely that play will still be allowed assuming ,matches are not cancelled – please pay special attention to players’ sun-protection (including hats) and hydration – scheduling frequent short drink breaks.

i would urge all games/Day 1 to be completed by 11.30am at the latest, even if this means starting matches earlier, and even if the 44 over innings is not completed.

For further details contact your SCC Coach or Club Secretary.

SCC Milo cricket returns Wednesday, 22nd Jan!

Sunbury Cricket Club – Milo cricket Season 2013/14

Milo cricket will return on the 22nd of January. Starting time is still at 5.30pm.

As our Australian Test team wins back the Ashes and the One day series I bet everyone is as keen as ever to get out and have a hit and bowl!

Notes for Parents / Carers,

We have noticed that a few kids are not wearing a hat and this is against Cricket Australia and our sun smart policy. Sorry, in future if kids not wearing their hat they will be asked to sit out the session.

Helpers required – If can spare a bit of your time on Milo cricket night to help out not only do the kids benefit from a better organised night you can join in the fun with your child.

See you then, cheers Scotty

SFC use of Clarke Oval agreement

blue logo

Sunbury Football Club preseason training agreement

Hume City Council requires an application process involving an agreement with Sunbury Cricket Club for other clubs or groups wishing to use the Clarke Oval during cricket season.

Please be aware that we have been in correspondence with the Sunbury Football Club (SFC) regarding their preseason program and the use of Clarke Oval.

If you are interested, the full dialogue is available upon request however in short:

  • SCC recognise there have been issues in the past with footballers encroaching on Milo areas.
  • SCC have made an agreement for season 2013/14 with SFC containing very specific terms as to ensure the safety of our Milo kids.
  • Brian O”Loughlan on behalf of SFC understands our concerns and is willing to work together with SCC Committee
  • Please report any issues as per SCC Code of Conduct procedure so we can take official action if required.

This agreement is between SFC and SCC only, not any other sporting group/club/organisation e.g. not Super Rules, not Womens football, not Netball, not Sunb Junior Football etc.:

Sunbury Cricket Club (SCC) agree that Sunbury Football Club (SFC) have access to the Clarke Oval during GDCA season 2013/14:

  • Monday afternoon  anytime
  • Wednesdays from 7.00pm* (Milo finishes at 6.30pm)

on the following dates

  • Before Christmas up to Wednesday 11th December  2013
  • After Christmas from Feb 3rd until March 31st  2014

*Provided that SFC footballers do not start any form of activity involving footballs or other training or practice activities while SCC Junior / Milo groups are in use of the Clarke Oval

There has been a strong connection between our two great clubs for more than a century. We both call home the premium sporting oval in the district, the Clarke Oval.

Through better communication and cooperation from both clubs we will be able to work together so SFC can have a full pre season on their home ground and we can enjoy a safe environment for our Junior and Milo kids.

Yours in cricket,

Marty Kelders

SCC Secretary
