Wood on Wheels – New SCC Sponsor

New SCC Sponsor – Wood on Wheels

The committee would like to let all members know of a great new local service who have agreed to jump on board to sponsor the club. Wood on Wheels deliver 240 litre wheelie bins full of Redgum Firewood to your front door.

When you require more wood you simply:
1. Order on line
2.Leave bin out
3. Wood on Wheels will swap it over with a full bin of wood.
How good’s that!

The bin holds the equivalent of at least 6 bags of wood normal sold at service stations or other outlets. This would cost up to $96.00, Wood on Wheels will deliver for just $58.00 to your door.

No more driving to pick up wood or pay for expensive bags and even better, no more mess and always dry wood.
The first bin cost is $98.00 which includes a $40.00 refundable deposit of bin hire.

Wood on Wheels are offering all Sunbury Cricket Club members, family and friends 10% off their first bin order and will also donate $20 to the club for each first bin purchased.
All you need to do is quote our unique SCC promotion Code (1245) when placing order, and Wood on Wheels will do the rest. So get cracking and place your first order and let’s support a great local business that is supporting our club.

Sunbury Cricket Club joins VTCA for season 2019/20

The Sunbury Cricket Club (SCC) is excited to announce that commencing season 2019/20 it will field its Senior 1st & 2nd Eleven teams in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association (VTCA).

SCC will now offer its members and the Sunbury community an alternative option to play high level VTCA cricket. SCC lower grade senior teams and junior divisions will remain within the GDCA. The SCC Executive Committee believe this is an opportunity in advancing and securing the long-term future of the club.

SCC’s long-term objective is to provide turf cricket locally and is working with Hume Council to achieve this however we have managed to secure the use of the new turf facility located outside Sunbury. The distances travelled are to be similar to travelling to GDCA venues. SCC junior and lower grade senior teams will be able to play more home games at Clarke Oval.

Details of arrangements will be communicated to SCC members by the SCC Executive Committee as they come to hand.

SCC President

By-laws amendments for season 2019/20

(a) By–law 1 – Affiliation amendment

The Sunbury Cricket Club Incorporated (SCC Inc.) affiliates with the Gisborne District Cricket Association and adopts the laws of the game as laid down by that body.

Change to:

The Sunbury Cricket Club Incorporated (SCC Inc.) shall affiliate with the Gisborne District Cricket Association and/or any other cricket competition as directed by The Executive Committee.

Reason:

To accommodate future potential Women’s, O60’s/O50’s, Turf, T20 competitions.

Carried unanimously.

There was an interesting debate regarding the expansion and level of participation at the club. This amendment opens the door to considering alternatives. All members will be advised of any forthcoming changes .

SCC Appoint Senior Captain / Coach – Dylan Wright

Sunbury Cricket Club is proud to announce the appointment of Dylan Wright as Senior Captain / Coach for season 2017/18.

Dylan’s  background includes stints in Premier cricket in both Melbourne and Adelaide.  He has played in a McIntyre Cup premiership and most recently played in a 1st XI Premiership in Wodonga the season before last. He brings to Sunbury playing and coaching experience from both football and cricket and is excited on his appointment as Sunbury Roar look to go one better in the coming season.

Dylan’s coaching philosophy has a strong emphasis on improving technique in all aspects of the game. Cricket is a sport where there are a lot of closed skills put together in an open environment and he believes if we can get as close as we can to perfecting those skills then we are going to go along way towards putting ourselves in winning positions every time we step onto the field. In saying that this pre-season is going to be very much focused on working on our deficiencies and where we can improve.

SCC are holding a “Meet the Coach”  golf day / catch up at Macedon Golf Club on the 30th of July. Following that we will be our first “cricket” session which is Sunday the 6th of August at the nets. – weather permitting of course.

From Dylan:

My advice though would be that within the next couple of weeks if you haven’t already grab a cricket ball & start tossing it around when you can. Also grab your bat and get used to that feeling. After all that’s why we play the game. Play a few shadow shots.

With a new coach comes with a fresh start, I don’t know anybody & I have no pre conceived perceptions about pigeon holing certain players in certain grades. This is a massive opportunity for the individual to step up and grab their chance.

Selection will be based around training attendance & attitude. No matter who you are & how good you think you are.

Finally – Attitude is a choice and how you perceive yourself is how others will perceive you. So I ask you, what’s your brand? What do you stand for?
Mediocre application = mediocre results.
There’s no ceiling in life. Only what others try to tell you what your limits are.

My advice to you all is to empower each other by using positive reinforcement and really get around each other. Life is hard enough without feeling as though our mates don’t have our back. I really want to know you all have my back. I know I already have yours.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Dylan Wright

Senior players wanted

This is the perfect opportunity for senior grade players new to the area, sick of travelling to town each week or for those wanting to make a stamp on the competition in a team with some great players mixed in with stars of the future. Come and join new Coach Dylan Wright and up and coming young players such as Stephen Treweek and Jack Landt and be part of what is to be an exciting season.

Our club has also a strong Juniors program with an emphasis on parental involvement.

Sunbury Cricket Club fields four junior teams. It is this commitment to junior cricket and the promotion of healthy activity in a family environment that ensures a successful future for the club and an attractive environment for new families to the area.

We are the envy of the competition being based at the Clarke Oval which is currently having the players facilities refurbished and we have the use of the Sunbury Bowling Club for after match activities and functions.
