20/21 subscriptions

Sunbury Cricket Club offer a variety of memberships to suit all players and for those socially connected to the club. Once again the club has put together fantastic packages including apparel offering unrivalled value to its members.

Due to the advent of C-19 this season has been shortened and significant changes have been made to the fixtures by both the VTCA and GDCA  including no two day cricket in any format for season 20/21. Your committee is working harder than ever before applying for grants, fund raising and approaching sponsors to minimise the costs of playing at our club.

Participating in sports such as cricket played in a team and family environment can be very beneficial for general health and well being so we would like to see all Sunbury Roar players, members, followers and families back at the club once again enjoying the game and each others company.

It is understood many families maybe experiencing hardship during this difficult time.  If you are experiencing financial uncertainty that may inhibit your capability of playing cricket this season or have any concerns please contact President Brendan Doyle or any other senior committee member if you require assistance or support.

SCC Statistics site – update

In 2017 Shayne Lewis undertook the massive task of entering match details into an online database from scorebooks going back as far as 1969. Those who know Shayne well would agree he is not one to sit idle. During this most recent C-19 lockdown he has been able to complete the database using all available information we have at the club.

Details available to view in the database  include match fixtures, player career statistics, batting and bowling averages of senior mens and womens cricket. Statistics of  junior cricket is available on MyCricket.

Past players will notice that there are a number of matches and seasons missing. This is simply because we do not have these scorebooks. Please come forward if you have any SCC scorebooks so we can have a more complete database for the enjoyment of all past and present members. You will see a list of missing scorebooks on the SCC website page.

In these challenging times the SCC is fortunate to provide a stable club executive and financial assurance with an eye on continued growth of the Womens and Mens turf and hard wicket competition.  The committee identifies that player retention and the continued development of the Junior program is as important as ever.

Brendon Doyle has been re-appointed President, Marty Kelders continues as Secretary and Bec Botten is welcomed back as Treasurer. Brad Hunter joins the team as Senior Vice President  and Shayne Lewis remains as Junior Vice President.

Ordinary Committee Members include Jake Botten and Travis Botten with new comers Gemma Hargreaves and  Kat Harrap.

Brendan Doyle  announced the recent approval from Hume Council for the upgrade of the Clarke Oval nets. This upgrade includes the replacement of the surface and the building of a 4th net. The works are planned to be completed for the start of pre-season training.

This season will prove challenging as we manage the COVID-19 situation. The club will follow the guidelines set out by Cricket Victoria, Hume Council and our affiliated bodies VTCA and GDCA in implementing controls to ensure a safe and healthy environment.

Jim Pearson returns as Roar Women’s Coach for 2020-21

Sunbury Cricket Club is very pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Pearson as Sunbury Roar Women’s Cricket Coach for Season 2020/21.

Jim begun his cricket coaching journey in 2002  with the Rupertswood Milo program and U12’s in support of his 3 children. He first came to Sunbury CC Juniors in 2005 and assisted Peter Osbourne setting up an U12 team and went on to develop junior cricket through all age levels over the next 5 years. Jim got involved with the senior committee and oversaw the amalgamation of the Sunbury Junior program with the Senior body as one entity in 2009. Jim initiated the clubs first Milo cricket program while continuing coaching Sunbury CC junior teams until 2015/16. He also started playing to assist juniors starting their senior cricket pathway,  was SCC’s first father to play in the same team with his daughter Jordyn, experienced premiership success with son Brenton and enjoyed also playing alongside his son Cameron.

In 2007 Jim joined the GDCA Junior Executive, coached GDCA Junior Country Week teams in 2009 and 2010 and became the inaugural GDCA Female Cricket Officer in 2012 to promote female cricket and establish pathways for girls to play senior cricket. Jim coached the GDCA Girls under 16 team for three years including in the first ever GDCA female country competition in 2012.

Jim is welcomed back with open arms as he is a well respected and highly decorated member of Sunbury CC having also Captained SCC 3rd XI premiership in 2012, served as SCC Treasurer on 3 occasions and was awarded SCC Life Membership in 2016.

It is a very exciting time for the Sunbury Roar Women’s team after a hugely successful inaugural season in the VTCA. We are sure the club will build on this success for the coming season with Jim’s appointment.

This is the perfect opportunity for players looking toward a new challenge to make the change. We are the only cricket club in Sunbury and surrounding areas that can offer TURF cricket.
