This is to inform Sunbury Cricket Club players and members of the coverage afforded to them and the club under the Cricket Australia National Club Risk Protection Program.
Each individual is to be aware of their circumstances and their insurance coverage needs. The Cricket Australia National Club Risk Protection Program does not make provision for Private Health Insurance, Life Insurance or other such products. A summary of how much cover is provided under each policy can be viewed on the JLT Cricket Australia website by clicking Summary section of the Home page. Further details are available within the policy wordings of each policy, these are also available on the website.
Clubs have a legal duty of care to ensure a safe environment for players, members, guests and members of the general public. Clubs cannot waive this duty: it exists not only for match day but for all club activities and clubs are required to be knowledgeable of the responsibilities that come with it.
The cricket season is just around the corner and the committee have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure that we have a positive and successful season. We have the opening of the new clubrooms so this will be an exciting time to be a part of Sunbury Cricket Club, so watch this space!!!
This season we again see Travis Botten leading us as President and also Marty Kelders as Secretary. Matt Ward has taken over the Treasurers role after it was vacated by the hard working Mick Corcoran, and we have a couple of new additions to the committee in Alex Bonacci and Dwayne Bottomley and Vice President and Jnr Vice President respectively. The current committee would like to thank last years’ committee for all the hard work that they put in, without it the club would not have ran as smoothly as it did. The committee would also like to congratulate and thank our new coach Justin Nelson. As everyone knows Justin is a much loved bloke around the club and we are looking forward to seeing his “serious” side. We know he is hard at work getting ready for a big pre-season, so keep an eye out for any information.
This season the Committee have been forced to raise subs however we will be providing more for the players. Senior players subs will include; all umpires fees, all ball money, a blue club shirt and your choice of ONE of the following; A white playing shirt, our new style club shorts or a training singlet.
The prices are:
FULL SENIOR – $280 STUDENT / APPRENTICE – $180
We will be running the Player sponsorship again this season. If you can find a local business to pay all or part of your subs we will promote them to our members on our webpage or even a photo on our social media pages.
Players that owe from last season will be approached to finalise their subs. A payment agreement will not be made with anyone that has outstanding payments from previous seasons. If you wish to enter a paying agreement please speak to Matt Ward before the first game as from Christmas we will not be accepting excuses from players that have not bothered to speak to us earlier. We are also able to accept Credit Card payments this year, so if you don’t have cash, it’s no worries, we can just swipe your card!!!
We are getting this out early so it gives everyone plenty of time to save and be prepared for the upcoming season.
Thank you all for reading this and make sure you keep an eye out for any information in the future.
On the back of a successful cricket season Sunbury Cricket Club are seeking expressions of interest for Senior and Junior coaches for next season.
Senior Coaching
There is an exciting opportunity to coach a club with very strong depth in young players and to lead a senior team with a mixture of seasoned cricketers and stars of the future. Our 1st XI has never been short of on field leadership with dual Kevin Sullivan Medalist, current GDCA Team of the Year Captain and Aggregates Award winner Jason McGann, ably supported by experienced players Heath Boffey and Paul Webber.
What a great opportunity for an aspiring cricketer to lead a first grade club as a coach and senior player and take our club to the next level. A coach offering leadership, a structured approach to training in an inclusive environment would be considered favourably.
If your are an experienced first grade cricketer and are looking for a new challenge or if you are new player to the area please contact us, this is certainly going to be the place to be in 2016/17.
New club room facilities are currently being built and will be in use at the start of the season. Already the envy of the competition playing at the home of sport in Sunbury, the Clarke Oval, our new home will be a revelation.
Junior coaches are very important roles within our club, we are looking for those who have an interest in cricket development and coordination at training and on game day. Without volunteers these programs are not possible so even if you have little experience we can provide assistance, there is always a role for those at any level. Scorers and team managers are also valuable to the team, many hands make light work.
We are looking to again run U16’s, U14’s, U12’s, U11’s and the Milo program.
T20 Blast is another program we would love to run if we can get assistance.
SCC welcome expressions of interest from parents and care providers who simply like to participate in their child’s activities. You don’t really need to be a former or current player to join in the fun.
If you are attending a match and would like to assist or help out for the day, don’t be shy, step forward and introduce yourself to our coach. We pride ourselves on being a family oriented club so that means we like to see the whole family getting involved.
Particularly if you are an interested parent and see yourself in a coaching role or simply would like to contribute we would love to hear from you.
Milo cricket is one coordination position open, without your help it may not be possible to run this program, so please get in contact with the club so we can make 2016/17 even bigger and better.
Prizes are ready for the big draw. Don’t miss out on the chance to get, maybe for the last time, the signatures of international stars Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo. Plus our own internationals incl. Aust. T20 Captain Aaron Finch, Peter Neville, Peter Siddle and James Pattison. So buy your tickets, and drop them off on Sunday at the SCC Junior cricket presentation starting from 11am **ALL MEMORABILIA COMES WITH A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY**

Just a few things:
1. Just letting you know that Cricket Victoria have stuffed up the orders for the kids packs, for some reason I received our centre equipment that I ordered on Tuesday but they haven’t sent out any of the packs that I ordered last Friday. So unfortunatly Coreys bag, along with about 10 others, wont be there. They have apologised and they were sorting it out first thing this morning.
2. The BBQ will be running again for the parents and for the players, the Cost is $2 for a Snag and $2 for a Drink.
3. There has been some confusion about the start time, we would like to apologise for that, but as of next week the U11’s start at 5.30PM so start times will align up nicely.
4. There maybe opportunities for the returning players to play a game in the U11’S, if your child might be interested please let me know as we are currently about 3 players short from having 2 Under 11’s teams.
5. New registrations are now closed. Thanks for the response but our numbers are nearly at 60 kids, which is fantastic however we can only cater for so many and the program is already well underway.
See you all tonight, and be prepared for the tap on the shoulder for a hand with the activities tonight.
We have had such a fantastic response to our Junior program this season that we have been forced to close registrations to new players.
SCC would like to welcome all new players and families that have already signed up and have attended training and matches. The season matches are well under way and currently all our Junior teams have ample numbers.
If you are a parent or care giver attending a match and would like to assist or help out for the day, don’t be shy, step forward and introduce yourself to our coach. We pride ourselves on being a family oriented club so that means we like to see the whole family getting involved.
Milo cricket is just about to start so we are still accepting registrations, but be quick.
