SCC enters into a sponsorship arrangement with Sunbury Social Club

Important announcement to all members
Sunbury Cricket Club enters into a sponsorship arrangement with Sunbury Social Club
The Sunbury Cricket Club (SCC) is very pleased to announce it has entered into a 2-year sponsorship arrangement with Sunbury Social Club (SSC) as of season 2017/18. Over the past few months SCC Committee had received tenders from both Club Sunbury and SSC. The decision was not taken lightly as we recognise the impact this decision has on its members and recognises the support Club Sunbury had given our club since 2013. However, after heavy scrutiny of both offers SCC Committee voted unanimously to a new 2-year agreement with SSC.
We ask all members to get behind Sunbury Social Club in light of this new sponsorship which includes but is not limited to: a more flexible arrangement with regard to selection night meals, after game use of SSC bar and club facilities, cooperation with apparel supply and opportunities for fund raising.
The SCC Committee on behalf of its members would like to convey sincere gratitude to Club Sunbury for all the support these past 5 years. The effort and cooperation from SBC Management is recognised with much appreciation and we wish kind regards to all of the Club Sunbury staff.
SCC are looking forward a great season of cricket as we build on previous seasons on field successes with new coach Dylan Wright with the backing of our new major sponsor Sunbury Social Club.
SCC Committee

SCC Appoint Senior Captain / Coach – Dylan Wright
Sunbury Cricket Club is proud to announce the appointment of Dylan Wright as Senior Captain / Coach for season 2017/18.
Dylan’s background includes stints in Premier cricket in both Melbourne and Adelaide. He has played in a McIntyre Cup premiership and most recently played in a 1st XI Premiership in Wodonga the season before last. He brings to Sunbury playing and coaching experience from both football and cricket and is excited on his appointment as Sunbury Roar look to go one better in the coming season.
Dylan’s coaching philosophy has a strong emphasis on improving technique in all aspects of the game. Cricket is a sport where there are a lot of closed skills put together in an open environment and he believes if we can get as close as we can to perfecting those skills then we are going to go along way towards putting ourselves in winning positions every time we step onto the field. In saying that this pre-season is going to be very much focused on working on our deficiencies and where we can improve.
SCC are holding a “Meet the Coach” golf day / catch up at Macedon Golf Club on the 30th of July. Following that we will be our first “cricket” session which is Sunday the 6th of August at the nets. – weather permitting of course.
From Dylan:
My advice though would be that within the next couple of weeks if you haven’t already grab a cricket ball & start tossing it around when you can. Also grab your bat and get used to that feeling. After all that’s why we play the game. Play a few shadow shots.
With a new coach comes with a fresh start, I don’t know anybody & I have no pre conceived perceptions about pigeon holing certain players in certain grades. This is a massive opportunity for the individual to step up and grab their chance.
Selection will be based around training attendance & attitude. No matter who you are & how good you think you are.
Finally – Attitude is a choice and how you perceive yourself is how others will perceive you. So I ask you, what’s your brand? What do you stand for?
Mediocre application = mediocre results.
There’s no ceiling in life. Only what others try to tell you what your limits are.
My advice to you all is to empower each other by using positive reinforcement and really get around each other. Life is hard enough without feeling as though our mates don’t have our back. I really want to know you all have my back. I know I already have yours.
Looking forward to meeting you all.
Dylan Wright

Sunbury Cricket Club – 150th Year
Executive Committee 2017/18
In it’s 150th season of competition Sunbury Cricket Club is very excited with the new look committee and the prospect of another successful season after the clubs AGM held last night at SBC.
This seasons committee comprises a few familiar faces, some former committee members returning and another couple of members have put up their hand to assist.
In particular, SCC welcomes the election of Matt Ward who has been promoted from Treasurer / Junior Coordinator to President. Jim Pearson returns as Treasurer having vacated the role a few years ago. Marty Kelders remains as Secretary for a fifth term with Alex Bonnaci assuming the Assistant Secretary role.
Other appointments include Shayne Lewis – Junior Vice President and Corey Beatty and Justin Nelson new comers to the committee as Ordinary members.
Previous serving committee members have been warmly thanked together with our much appreciated sponsors and senior / junior volunteers for the previous seasons assistance. There have been some learning done after the first season running the new facility.
This season, with a stronger relationship being negotiated with our Major sponsor, Sunbury Bowling Club, the short comings of last season are to be seen as an exercise in learning as we push onto the new season with vigour and the anticipation of the 150 year celebrations.
For a full list of appointments click here for the SCC Website Committee and contacts page.
The committee are already working hard securing sponsorship and a coaching appointment we are also willing to speak to any prospective senior players.
It has been identified that to aid in the smooth running of the Junior body within our club we asking for anyone interested in the Junior Coordinator or assistant role to come forward. There is room for a Junior sub-committee to be formed as there are a number of tasks that require assistance. Anyone interested please contact us.
