Sunbury Cricket Club joins VTCA for season 2019/20

The Sunbury Cricket Club (SCC) is excited to announce that commencing season 2019/20 it will field its Senior 1st & 2nd Eleven teams in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association (VTCA).

SCC will now offer its members and the Sunbury community an alternative option to play high level VTCA cricket. SCC lower grade senior teams and junior divisions will remain within the GDCA. The SCC Executive Committee believe this is an opportunity in advancing and securing the long-term future of the club.

SCC’s long-term objective is to provide turf cricket locally and is working with Hume Council to achieve this however we have managed to secure the use of the new turf facility located outside Sunbury. The distances travelled are to be similar to travelling to GDCA venues. SCC junior and lower grade senior teams will be able to play more home games at Clarke Oval.

Details of arrangements will be communicated to SCC members by the SCC Executive Committee as they come to hand.

Brendan Doyle
SCC President

By-laws amendments for season 2019/20

(a) By–law 1 – Affiliation amendment

The Sunbury Cricket Club Incorporated (SCC Inc.) affiliates with the Gisborne District Cricket Association and adopts the laws of the game as laid down by that body.

Change to:

The Sunbury Cricket Club Incorporated (SCC Inc.) shall affiliate with the Gisborne District Cricket Association and/or any other cricket competition as directed by The Executive Committee.

Reason:

To accommodate future potential Women’s, O60’s/O50’s, Turf, T20 competitions.

Carried unanimously.

There was an interesting debate regarding the expansion and level of participation at the club. This amendment opens the door to considering alternatives. All members will be advised of any forthcoming changes .

This season, together with a strong relationship with Sunbury Social Club, we push onto the new season with vigour and the anticipation that we continue to build and promote cricket for our club and for the game in general.

Senior Coaching- Expressions of Interests 2019-20 Season

ScreenHunter_26 Jun. 25 19.30

Sunbury Cricket Club are calling on expressions of interest for positions of Senior Coach and players for the upcoming season 2019-20

It is an exciting time for the club as we chase the ultimate success. We offer an excellent opportunity for a playing or non-playing Senior Coach. Experience is preferred however not essential. A generous package will be able to be negotiated for the preferred candidate.

Sunbury Cricket Club had 4 senior sides in Gisborne and District Cricket Association in 2018-19 with the McIntyre 2nd eleven making the semi-finals and the Club north side winning the premiership.

This is the perfect opportunity for a senior grade coach and players new to the area, sick of travelling to town each week or for those wanting to make a stamp on the competition in a team with some great players.

Our club also prides itself on its strong juniors program with an emphasis on progressing our junior players into senior cricket and parental involvement.

Sunbury Cricket Club fields four junior teams. It is this commitment to junior cricket and the promotion of healthy activity in a family environment ensures a successful future for the club and an attractive environment for new families to the area.

The successful candidate will be expected to coordinate pre-season and in-season training/development programs. The coach will also work closely with junior coaches to assist in transitioning players from the junior ranks to senior cricket. The coach will also be required to liaise with junior coordinator & coaches in order to align with the junior program.

We are the envy of the competition being based at the Clarke Oval which is complemented by newly upgraded player’s facilities, new club rooms and we also maintain an agreement with the Sunbury Social Club to host major functions and activities.
