150th Year Celebration

As part of Sunbury Cricket Clubs 150th year of cricket celebrations President Brendon Doyle is inviting all past players and sponsors to attend a celebration evening  of Sunbury cricket.

The clubs Social Committee is organising a special evening including guest speakers from within the club and also a celebrity guest speaker.

Highlight of the function will be the announcement of the SCC Hall of Fame. Will any of the current day players stack up against our histories best and make the list???

Not only is this a special anniversary of our clubs formation in 1868, 2018 is the 25th anniversary of the unparalleled achievement of winning not only the GDCA A Grade Premiership but also the B Grade and D Grade were also successful with the C Grade unfortunately missing out being defeated in the Final.

So please mark your calendar for this special event to celebrate the clubs history and is a chance to catch up with former team mates where stories of great successes can be relived and don’t forget some less than memorable events for some may be raised in the name of humour.

Not only are we seeking a celebrity to provide entertainment there will be  Captains and great players sharing some stories for those who are close to the club. This is a great opportunity for past players, current sponsors and club officials to meet and enjoy an evening of cricket history of our club.

Saturday 16th December
Presidents Lunch                                                                                                         The luncheon will be provided at no cost but bookings are essential for catering purposes.                                                                               A fully serviced bar will be in operation and a couple of raffles will be run on the day.                                                                                                    3:30pm at the McMahon Pavilion upstairs rooms (Trump Towers)

Sunbury Roar T20

A big week ahead as T20 comes to Clarke Oval for the first time this season.

Come along and watch the spectacle of GDCA Premier Division T20 cricket as Sunbury Roar take on cross town rivals  Rupertswood at the home of sport in Sunbury, Clarke Oval, this Tuesday night starting at 5.30pm.

Lets all get to the game with our Royal blue shirts and caps supporting our team. Enjoy the view from the new licenced club rooms balcony and watch the white ball fly to all parts of the ground.

We are Sunbury, hear the mighty Roar !

Important announcement to all members

The Sunbury Cricket Club Committee announce to it’s members that Brendan Doyle was appointed President at last nights Committee meeting.  The role was vacated due to the outgoing President Matt Ward and his family relocating to Cairns in Northern Queensland.

The Sunbury Cricket Club Committee and its members recognise the enormous contribution Matt has made to our club in recent years. Matt  had been a SCC player / Captain for many years and Secretary in 2010. He returned to the club as a Milo In2Cricket coordinator in 2014 and from there moved onto Junior Coordinator, Treasurer and this season as President. During this time the club has seen many changes and also some challenges. Matt has been the backbone of the Junior program and took on other important tasks such as negotiating the return of the club to partner with Sunbury Social Club.

Personally I would like to thank Matt, we worked very hard together and at all times kept our sense of humour, often with a heavy workload juggling work and family life but at the end of the day everything was done in the best interest for the club and it’s members moving forward.

Thank you Matt.

Brendan Doyle is welcomed back with open arms by the SCC Committee this time as President. He brings strong leadership, a wealth of experience and motivation to the group . Brendan, a fine cricketer in his day, is best known in recent years as an enthusiastic parent, popular Junior coach,  Committee member and Junior coordinator.

Brendan had taken a step back from the club this season due to  work commitments however is now able  to join us again.  Brendan will make an excellent President and we all look forward to seeing him more around the club.

Please join me in congratulating Brendan on his appointment.

JUNIOR CRICKET REGISTRATION DAY

 

Sunbury Cricket Club is holding a registration day for Junior teams, T20 Blast and Milo In2Cricket for the coming season. We welcome all boys and girls to join the mighty Roar for what is going to be a big season of cricket.

Coordinators urgently required or some programs may not be possible

Where:              Sunbury Social Club, Clarke Oval.    Riddell Rd.  

When:                Wednesday 6th September                                                                                           between 6.00pm and 7.30 pm

Junior teams :        Under 11.5’s (age calculated from March 1st)                                                     13’s, 15’s & 17’s  (ages calculated from Sept.  1st)

Registration fee includes club playing shirt, match/practice balls, family presentation /BBQ at the conclusion of the program and a Renegades membership.

MILO T20 Blast          Run by Cricket Victoria, is a super fun, social, safe, cricket program for boys and girls aged 7 to 12. The program is much shorter than traditional cricket, with a maximum of 90 minutes playing time. All the equipment is supplied and the games will take place at local cricket clubs including Clarke Oval.

Milo In2Cricket   is a super fun, safe, social and active program for girls and boys aged 5 to 8. Participants develop fundamental motor skills which set them up for a lifelong involvement in physical activity, as well as important social skills including teamwork and being a good sport!

Registration fee includes 8-week program, Milo in2CRICKET participant pack (cricket bag, bat, ball, hat, shirt & drink bottle), family BBQ at the conclusion of the program and a Renegades membership.
