Sunbury CC are into the Grand Final of the GDCA T20 Premier Division after an entertaining display defeating cross town rivals United
Our team in the royal blue batted first setting the target of 8/176. Mick Treweek continues his outstanding form of late with 34 opening the innings and Patty Tyler got amongst the action with 26. Captain Jason McGann cleared the boundary on several occasions and finished the innings off in style with 34*.
Early wickets proved to be the key as United lost a couple of it’s top order batsmen early and struggled to get a partnership going. Once behind the run rate they never recovered and eventually fell short by almost 30 runs. Features included Dylan Landt taking early wickets together with stalwart Heath Boffey and Brad Hunter taking a few late.
Highlight of the evening was Jack Landt’s fielding making the deep point cover region his own. Jacks energy and attack on the ball resulted in two direct hits exciting the crowd and sending one United batsmen back to the pavilion.
This Tuesday’s Grand Final should draw a large crowd to see an entertaining contest between last seasons T20 Premiers Bacchus Marsh and Sunbury’s up and coming talent ably led by Jason McGann and Brad Hunter.
