Sunbury Roar T20 Thursday Jan 4th at Clarke !

Sunbury Roar T20 at Clarke on Jan 4th!

The VTCA T20 cricket tournament is coming to Sunbury for the first and only time this season on Thursday night, January 4th at 5 pm. With a strong win against PEGS already in the competition a win will see the Roar progress to the next round.

Come and witness the exciting VTCA T20 match between Sunbury Roar and Caroline Springs Falcons at Clarke Oval, the home of sports in Sunbury. The game starts at 5:00 PM.

You’ll have the chance to see Sunbury CC legend Paul Webber, who recently shone in the Victorian Over 50’s championships.

Let’s all wear our royal blue shirts and caps to support our team, enjoy the view from the licensed club room’s balcony and watch the white ball fly to all parts of the ground.

Social Club Friday Night Raffle

Hey everyone, we hope to see as many of you as possible at tonight’s Social Club Friday Night Raffle (December 15th). It would be greatly appreciated if you could spare some time from 6:30pm to help with the raffle. Plus, there are some awesome prizes up for grabs, there will be a huge jackpot at the member’s draw and our club will benefit from the proceeds this week.

Vale John Arthur

We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of John Arthur, a Life Member of the Sunbury Cricket Club.

John, who was affectionately known as “Baldy”, was a proud representative of our club both on and off the field. He was a fierce competitor and a staunch supporter of the club. John had played in several premierships, captaining the team in three of them. He was also awarded the Best Clubman title for the 1997/98 season.

John was a long-serving member of our club, having played his first game in 1976 and continued to play until 1994. He returned for one more season in 1998/99, playing a total of more than 150 games.

John was also a Life Member of the Sunbury Football Club, where he served as President for three terms in the early nineties. He also served as a board member of the Sunbury Social Club.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to John’s family and friends during this difficult time.

Premierships: 1977/78 B Grade, 1990/91 C Grade, 1991/92 C Grade, 1992/93 D Grade.

SUNBURY ROAR UNDER 18’s VTCA TURF

SEEKING PLAYERS FOR SEASON 2023/24

The Sunbury Cricket Club is currently searching for players to join their VTCA Under 18s team for the upcoming 2023/24 season. The division provides an excellent opportunity to play on turf against other metropolitan clubs, with the home ground situated at Clarke Oval Sunbury.

The season starts this Sunday 22nd October at Taylors Lakes.

After experiencing success last season, the club is looking to enter two teams in this year’s competition. Since all games take place on Sundays, players only need a game permit to take part, allowing them to compete with their home clubs on Saturdays. Seeking players for season 2025/26 – VTCA and GDCA cricket

Sunbury Cricket Club is affiliated with the VTCA and GDCA and is the only club in the Sunbury area and surrounds to offer Turf cricket.

There are many reasons why SCC is the preferred cricket club of choice:

improve your game by playing VTCA turf cricket
no more travelling long distances to get to training to play turf cricket
junior players have an opportunity to play turf while training in Sunbury
social cricketer looking to play in a country setting
something for all cricketers of all abilities, ages and for the whole family

Men’s program

We cater for Mens cricketers of all ages and capabilities. Our 1st and 2nd XI Men’s teams compete in the VTCA Division 2, playing on quality turf wickets each week. We also have teams competing in the local GDCA hard wicket competition on Saturdays. Our teams are a good mix of experienced and young players. We pride ourselves in promoting young players from our strong junior program.

VTCA SUNDAY Turf Competition is currently postponed due to player availabilty and will return next season.

Players currently playing and training for other clubs/associations in Saturday club cricket can play in the popular VTCA Sunday 1 day format competition with Sunbury Roar by way of a permit.

All matches to be played on turf throughout the VTCA with home matches played at Clarke Oval, Sunbury. For more details contact SCC.

ROAR Academy

We are also very excited to conduct Sunbury Cricket Clubs ” ROAR ACADEMY”. Selected players between the ages of 13 to 17 will be invited to join the academy were they will receive:

1. 1-1 training with our academy coaches.

2. Financial assistance with travel during representative duties.

3. Exposure and clear path way to our Senior Turf team.

4. Training and guidance on understanding the game.

5. Developing future leaders of the SCC and the Community .

Junior program

SCC field junior teams in all age groups including U17, U15, U13 and U11. We also run the New Woolworths Junior Blast and Master Blast programs for school age girls and boys.

Clarke Oval

Our home is the Clarke Oval, the centre of sports in Sunbury featuring the only turf wicket in Sunbury and surrounding areas. We enjoy the benefits of partnering with Sunbury Social Club and also have use of the newly renovated McMahon Pavilion featuring brand new clubroom facilities, bar and a balcony viewing area.
