While sponsoring the entire club, IMPS is particularly dedicated to supporting junior development, especially in the Master Blast Program and all Junior Divisions. SCC Appoint 1st XI Captain

Sunbury Cricket Club

Last season’s Dean Surkitt Medalist, Ashan Ranaweera, has recommitted to the club for the upcoming season and will lead the Roar as the 1st XI Captain.

With 15 years of coaching experience at Mt. Beauty CC, SCC will benefit from Ashan’s leadership as he takes on the role of one of the training coordinators for the 24/25 season.

Additionally, Ashan will be involved in coaching the Under 18’s, demonstrating his passion for junior development and commitment to the club’s future. With Ashan’s wealth of experience, Sunbury Cricket Club is in great hands.

Coaching announcement – Unfortunately we were unable to come to terms with Kevin Barker who has decided to move on from the club.

The club has a strong capability to move to a team coaching structure involving experienced players and former coaches of the club.

We thank Kev for his efforts in the past season and wish him well in his future endeavours.

Executive Committee 2024-25

Sunbury Cricket Club is pleased to announce the election of a new Executive Committee at the recently held AGM.

It was encouraging to see senior club members step up for appointment. Key appointments include Nathan Mora as President, Shayne Lewis as Secretary, and Justin Allen as Treasurer.

The SCC would like to express gratitude to Brendan Doyle for his service as President since 2018. During his tenure, he oversaw many changes, including the transition to turf cricket and the development of training facilities.

Seeking players for season 2025/26 – VTCA and GDCA cricket

Sunbury Cricket Club is affiliated with the VTCA and GDCA and is the only club in the Sunbury area and surrounds to offer Turf cricket.

There are many reasons why SCC is the preferred cricket club of choice:

improve your game by playing VTCA turf cricket
no more travelling long distances to get to training to play turf cricket
junior players have an opportunity to play turf while training in Sunbury
social cricketer looking to play in a country setting
something for all cricketers of all abilities, ages and for the whole family

Men’s program

We cater for Mens cricketers of all ages and capabilities. Our 1st and 2nd XI Men’s teams compete in the VTCA Division 2, playing on quality turf wickets each week. We also have teams competing in the local GDCA hard wicket competition on Saturdays. Our teams are a good mix of experienced and young players. We pride ourselves in promoting young players from our strong junior program.

VTCA SUNDAY Turf Competition is currently postponed due to player availabilty and will return next season.

Players currently playing and training for other clubs/associations in Saturday club cricket can play in the popular VTCA Sunday 1 day format competition with Sunbury Roar by way of a permit.

All matches to be played on turf throughout the VTCA with home matches played at Clarke Oval, Sunbury. For more details contact SCC.

ROAR Academy

We are also very excited to conduct Sunbury Cricket Clubs ” ROAR ACADEMY”. Selected players between the ages of 13 to 17 will be invited to join the academy were they will receive:

1. 1-1 training with our academy coaches.

2. Financial assistance with travel during representative duties.

3. Exposure and clear path way to our Senior Turf team.

4. Training and guidance on understanding the game.

5. Developing future leaders of the SCC and the Community .

Junior program

SCC field junior teams in all age groups including U17, U15, U13 and U11. We also run the New Woolworths Junior Blast and Master Blast programs for school age girls and boys.

Clarke Oval

Our home is the Clarke Oval, the centre of sports in Sunbury featuring the only turf wicket in Sunbury and surrounding areas. We enjoy the benefits of partnering with Sunbury Social Club and also have use of the newly renovated McMahon Pavilion featuring brand new clubroom facilities, bar and a balcony viewing area.
