SCC T20 campaign – game 3

Sunbury Roar T20

Sunbury Roar’s T20 campaign took a hit on Tuesday night, but there were plenty of positives as Keilor CC proved why they’re the genuine contenders this season.

In his first game as captain, Jack Narraway won the toss and sent Keilor in—only to watch former Sri Lankan star Dimuth Karunaratne put on a masterclass against our young side. Karunaratne, a three-time ICC Test Team of the Year opener and former Sri Lankan Test and ODI captain, lit up the VTCA Premier Division. Keilor also bolstered their lineup with Footscray Premier opening bat Mitchell Jamieson.

For the Roar, Divjot Singh was outstanding with the ball, finishing with 2/14 from three overs. The fielding was a highlight: Riley Dracchio pulled off two brilliant grabs in the deep and several athletic saves, while Ethan Connolly, Kamran Khan and Indika Massalage brought energy and intent across the park.

The chase didn’t go our way, but there were strong moments. Ethan Connolly opened with confidence against a top-tier attack before being desperately unlucky to be caught and bowled off a blistering drive. Riley continued his form with a handy 23, but fading light and a steep target proved too much.

Against a powerhouse Premier Division side—two grades above us—the Roar showed heart, talent, and plenty of promise. Facing former Test stars and elite players is invaluable, and everyone watching could see just how bright the future looks for the Roar.

Come and witness the T20 action for yourself!

The next T20 match is on Tuesday 16th December vs Druids CC, keep posted on SCC FB for details.

We are Sunbury, hear the mighty Roar!
