IMPS – Sunbury Roar Academy: Building the Next Generation of Cricketers
Over the past 14 weeks, the IMPS Roar Academy has been a cornerstone of junior cricket development at Sunbury Cricket Club. Run during the off-season and made possible through the generous support of Integral Maintenance and Property Services (IMPS), this program has offered local young cricketers the opportunity to sharpen their skills and grow their love for the game.
Held each Saturday under the expert guidance of head coach Wayne Miller, a VTCA development specialist, the Academy provided tailored coaching across all key areas of cricket. The program’s structure focused on both individual skill refinement and tactical development through real-game scenarios.
Key Focus Areas:
-
Batting: Players worked on their technique, identified personal strengths and weaknesses, and learned how to adapt to various bowlers. The sessions helped batters understand how to control an innings and force bowlers to bowl to their strengths.
-
Bowling: A major emphasis was placed on refining run-ups, delivery stride, arm positioning, and body alignment. Through scenario-based drills, bowlers also learned how to identify a batter’s weaknesses and work together in bowling partnerships.
-
Fielding: High-intensity drills and technique sessions focused on catching, ground fielding, and direct-hit accuracy.
-
Body Conditioning: Fitness and conditioning were integrated into the program to improve endurance, strength, and injury prevention.
-
Equipment Awareness: Players were also educated on using the correct equipment suited to their playing style and physical needs.
For many young athletes, these 14 weeks were transformative—not just in terms of skill development, but also in building confidence, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of cricket strategy.

The IMPS – Sunbury Roar Academy has laid a strong foundation for the season ahead, and with the continued support of IMPS, the future of junior cricket in Sunbury looks brighter than ever.
Proudly Sponsored by IMPS
A major driving force behind the success of this program is the continued support of Integral Maintenance and Property Services (IMPS)—Sunbury Cricket Club’s major sponsor. IMPS, a local leader in landscaping and property maintenance, has reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots sport by supporting not just the club broadly, but specifically investing in junior development, including the Master Blast Program and all Junior Divisions.
Joint Managing Directors Scott Yardley and Brad Hunter are passionate about creating affordable opportunities for kids to stay healthy, active, and engaged in sport. Thanks to their sponsorship, the club can keep registration fees accessible and invest in much-needed equipment.
We encourage all members and supporters of Sunbury Cricket Club to return the favour—if you need landscaping or property maintenance services, look no further than IMPS.
